It involves the cremation, without a traditional funeral service beforehand.

A cremation funeral is a type of funeral service that involves the cremation of the deceased's body instead of a traditional burial. This type of funeral can include many of the same elements as a traditional funeral, such as a ceremony, eulogies, and religious rites.

The service, usually conducted at the crematorium, can be a religious or non-religious ceremony, depending on the wishes of the deceased and their family. The length of time allocated for the service varies between each crematoria, but you should be mindful this allocated time allows for people to enter the chapel, the service and time to exit the chapel.

A burial is a traditional type of funeral service where the deceased's body is interred in the ground or entombed in a mausoleum or crypt. Usually a ceremony will be conducted prior to the the burial, usually in a church or venue. Short ceremonies can also take place by the graveside.

Types of bruial include:

• In-Ground Burial: The most common form, where the casket is buried in a cemetery plot and marked with a headstone or grave marker.

• Above-Ground Burial: This includes entombment in a mausoleum or crypt. These structures can be indoor or outdoor and house multiple individuals in separate chambers.

Natural or Woodland Burials are an eco-friendly alternative to traditional burials. They typically involve:

• No Embalming: The body is not embalmed to avoid the use of toxic chemicals.

• Biodegradable Caskets: Caskets or shrouds are made from natural, biodegradable materials.

• Natural Burial Sites: The burial takes place in a natural setting, such as a meadow or woodland, rather than a traditional cemetery. These sites often have minimal or no grave markers, or they use natural stones or plants to mark the grave. If you wish to visit one of these sites a member of our team will be able to assist you.

A religious funeral service is a ceremony that follows the customs and traditions of a particular faith or religion to commemorate the deceased. These services can vary widely depending on the specific religion and its practices, but they generally include prayers, readings and/or religious rituals.

Religious funeral services provide a structured way to honour the deceased, offer comfort to the bereaved, and reaffirm the community's faith and beliefs about life, death, and the afterlife. The service is usual held in a religious venue, such as a church or temple, and followed by a committal service.

A marine licence is required from the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) for a burial at sea in English waters or Northern Irish offshore waters. We will be pleased to assist in all preparations, should this be the preferred choice of committal.

In the UK there are three designated burial at sea locations, which are:

• off The Needles, Isle of Wight

• between Hastings and Newhaven

• off Tynemouth, North Tyneside
